Feilding and District Steam Rail Society was formed with the intention of rebuilding a New Zealand Steam Locomotive.

February 1997 saw New Zealand Railway and Locomotive Society's 1927 Wab moved from Ferrymead to Feilding.

Over the last few years, steam loco's: F 163, X 442 and Diesels: DSA 227, DA 1401, TR 13
have become residents of the Feilding and District Steam Rail Society
